Yesterday, 26-year-old Dane Samuel pleaded guilty to a charge of breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony and was sent to prison for 12 months.
Samuel reportedly entered the home of a Bendals woman some time after 4:00 am on July 29 and was intercepted by the woman when she went to investigate a noise coming from the kitchen.
The woman screamed and the perpetrator made his getaway through a kitchen window.
Police recovered several fingerprints in the house that, when processed, matched those of the accused.
Senior Magistrate Ivan Walters sentenced Samuel to 18 months but reduced the term because of his guilty plea.
