There has been a changing of the guards in the Antigua & Barbuda Scout Movement. Replacing outgoing Chief Commissioner Norman Spencer is Charles “Chucky” Bellot.

The new chief commissioner was invested in a short ceremony at the Office of the Chief Scout, Governor General Dame Louise Lake-Tack on Wednesday.

Commissioner Bellot said he is anxious to get to work, as there is much to be done in preparation for the centenary celebrations for Scouting in Antigua & Barbuda slated for 2013.

He is looking forward to putting together a team of dedicated individuals who share a common vision for the movement going forward.

“We will be refocusing on the youth, adjusting our development programme to ensure that Scouting remains relevant, educational, and most importantly, enjoyable, fun, and exciting to the youth of the nation of Antigua & Barbuda,” Bellot said.

Antigua & Barbuda Scout Association will be holding elections of officers at Government House at an Extraordinary General Meeting next week Tuesday at 5 pm, when a new executive committee will be elected.
