Preparations underway for Barbuda by-election

The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission is preparing for a by-election on Barbuda.
The upcoming poll is to fill a Barbuda Council-seat, vacated by Trevor Walker, soon after he was elected to the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda on March 21st.
The Electoral Commission says in a release that it has come to the attention of the Supervisor of Elections, through a letter dated March 27, that Walker has resigned from his seat on the Counci
And in accordance with the Barbuda Local Government Act, a by- election is eminent on the sister isle.
No date has been announced for the poll. But the Electoral Commission says one will be given, following the issuance of the Writ of Election by the Governor General.
The Supervisor of Elections is responsible for the conduct of Election of Members of the Barbuda Council.
