The police are investigating two recent cases of sexual offences reported by girls under the age of consent, which is 16 years.
In one incident, a father is being investigated for incest as it is alleged he had sexual intercourse with his 14-year-old daughter.
The man was detained and questioned about the incident which comes just two weeks after he was arrested for going too far in disciplining the child.
Meanwhile a 15-year-old girl is alleging that she was raped by a 29-year-old male.
It is alleged the rape was committed in an open pasture in Bendals sometime in May but it was only on Monday that the teen filed the report. A police source said the man had not been arrested up to the time of this newscast.
There’s no information as to why the teen waited two months to report the crime. The police and the Directorate of Gender Affairs have encouraged victims to report such crimes as soon as they occur and to get help.
Hotline numbers for Gender Affairs are 463-5555 or 462-3990. Or people can contact the police at 462-3913.
None of the men have been charged.
