Mill Reef record first win in Business Basketball league

Mill Reef had much to celebrate on Saturday night as the newbies recorded their first win of the ongoing Cool and Smooth Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Business league.
Playing at the JSC Sports Complex, Mill Reef, led by Elliott Samuel with 11 points and Nigel Fergus with 10, defeated Rackaman Construction Cleaners, 56-51 in the first match of the quadruple header.
Cleaners’ Adrian Carniege had 15 points while teammates Franklyn “Spiderman” Corbett and Buel Henry sank 12 points.
Powerhouse team, Anjo’s Wholesale found their winning ways as they trounced Dixie, 81-68.
DeCosta Walbrook and Steven Matthew led the charge for the victors with 19 points.
Teammate Humroy Wright netted 13 points.
Nigel “Snarks” Joseph had a game high 21 points for Dixie with assistance from Pernell Phillip and Kirwan Peterson who had 13 and 11 points in a losing effort.
In the other matches played that night, A-mobile Young Rivals suffered their seventh straight loss while Blue Waters edged out Antigua and Barbuda International Institute of Technology (ABIIT).
Young Rivals went under to Burton’s Laundry, 55-45 as Darren Jeanville led the victors with 21 points.
Damien “Duckman” Floyd chipped in with 13 points while Young Rivals’ Dallas Joseph netted nine points.
Blue Waters’ Ishaan Peets had 16 points while Michael Barton and Tyler Jacobs sank eight points in a losing effort. (Carlena Knight)
