Lion Hill back in promotion contention, English Harbour in striking distance

Lion Hill FC kept themselves in the hunt for automatic promotion from the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association’s (ABFA) Second Division when, on Monday, they chalked up their 12th victory in 17 showings with a narrow 2-1 victory over Attacking Saints. 

Playing at home in Golden Grove, Lion Hill had single strikes from Carlroy Douglasand Tyler Anthonywho scored in minutes 44 and 65, respectively, to move them onto 38 points and second in the standings ahead of Bendals and Attacking Saints who have 36 and 35 points respectively. 

Devonta Greenscored the lone goal for Saints as they fell to their fourth defeat in 17 showings. 

There was victory as well for English Harbour as they beat ABAYA 4-1 in English Harbour. Xavier Richardsled the way with a double strike, scoring in minutes 38 and 40, while Allan Martinand Jevoney Chambershad goals in minutes 16 and 36. 

The win moved Harbour to 37 points and third in the standings while ABAYA, who had their lone strike come from Rupert Francisin minute 61, remain on 19 points from 15 showings. 

In another one-sided affair, Freeman’s Village Scorpions defeated 5Ps Wadadli FC 4-0. Darius Hector(minute 15), Roy Gregory(minute 64) and Khalique Kellman(minute 67) all scored once for Scorpions while Peter Bellafantiescored an own-goal in the 22nd minute. 

Scorpions moved to 29 points from 18 matches while 5Ps remain on 12 points from 16 matches and in the bottom half of the standings. 

Pares failed to turn out for their fixture against Garden Stars.
