KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Police are searching for the lone gunman who shot and killed Pastor Keaven Dixon of the New Testament Church of God on Monday.
Police said that Dixon, 32, had gone to the Hopewell High School in the western parish of Hanover to collect an acceptance letter for a teaching position in September, when he was killed.
“We are very shocked and traumatised by the incident. While no school was in session, the football team was attending a training camp at the school,” Principal Joyce Irving said.
Police said that the unknown gunman had gone to the school demanding to meet with the principal but was unable to meet with her.
Dixon died while being treated at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay.
This is the second violent attack on a New Testament Church of God pastor in five months. Earlier this year, Bishop Donald Roberts was stabbed during an attempted robbery at his home.
So far this year, 897 persons have been killed in Jamaica.
