MELBOURNE, Australia (CMC) – Cricket Australia has appointed former Tasmania fast bowler Adam Griffith and ex-England batsman Graeme Hick to the coaching staff for Australia’s outing in the Tri-Series in the Caribbean this June.

Hick, who played 65 Tests for England, will serve as assistant coach while Griffith, who played 50 first class matches, will perform the role of bowling coach.

Former Australia batsman Justin Langer will be head coach for the tour as Darren Lehmann takes a short break.

“We are excited to have Adam join the team for the tour of the West Indies. West Australia have some talented young fast-bowlers that have developed under Adam’s watch and it’s great to be able to offer him the chance to work with the Australian side under Justin Langer,” Lehman said.

“It’s a credit to the standard of our state coaching system to be able to offer these opportunities to young coaches and I am sure both Adam and the players will benefit greatly from this experience.”

Griffith replaces former Test fast bowler Craig McDermott who vacated the post following the recent Twenty20 World Cup in India while Hick fills the vacancy created when batting coach Michael De Venuto departed earlier this year.

Australia will clash with West Indies and South Africa in the tournament which runs from June 3-26 in Guyana, St Kitts and Nevis and Barbados.

Australia will leave for the Caribbean at the end of May.
