A 28-year-old man is expected to appear before the court this week to answer to charges in relation to an illegal firearm, ammunition, and cannabis, which were found in his possession.

Ezioke Henry of Golden Grove is currently in custody assisting police in their investigations.

According to a release from the Police’s Strategic Communications Department (STRATCOM), Henry was caught around 12:30 on Friday afternoon when police officers attached to the Dockyard Police Station were on mobile patrol.

While canvassing the area, they spotted Henry near a bus stop in English Harbour and deemed him to be acting suspiciously.

The police said a search was conducted on the accused and a .25 pistol and eight matching rounds of ammunition were found concealed inside a knapsack he was carrying. A further search was carried out at his home and one .25 spent ammunition shell, along with 24 cannabis plants were found growing in his yard.

The illegal items were seized and taken to the police station. Henry is expected to be formally charged before his first court appearance.
