What a week; what a week. In the past week I learned that I need to manage my time a bit better. I did two new things in the gym, and I had my first one on one with KK (Killa Kevinia).
Let’s start at the beginning. I had two impromptu presentations last week and because they were unplanned, I didn’t have a chance to reschedule my gym time.
I actually thought I would’ve been out in time to take an exercise class, but it didn’t work out either night. While I was happy on a professional level, I was disappointed fitness wise.
I have friends married with children who manage their time and get in the work out. I am as single as a dollar coin so I have absolutely no excuse.
This week is also a bit uncertain as far as the evenings go, so I have to get my body out of bed early and get to the gym.
Anyway, last week in KK’s class, one of the exercises required that you balance yourself on the exercise ball and do crunches. Initially I said “I can’t” and the lady next to me said “don’t say you can’t, just do” and I did.
It was a great feeling. The other first for me was walking on the treadmill hands free. This came about when KK was assessing my fitness level on our training first session.
The first test was the treadmill. I started it and out of habit held on. She asked me if I could go hands free, and I told her I never had, so I tried. I’ve always had visions of me going hands free, flying backwards off the treadmill and winding up on Youtube.
Thankfully, that didn’t happen.
Afterwards we discussed my goals, and I explained to KK that I want to tighten up and lose weight. I am not delusional. I know I can exercise until Jesus comes and I will not have Kevinia’s arms or legs, but I know I can get tight.
I have had people tell me it’s impossible because I’m not as young as I used to be. While age might be a factor, it is not a deterrent.
Sorry about the picture, or lack thereof, this week, guys. I thought to about taking a picture of the first session, had the camera and all, but I actually forgot it in my bag when I got to the gym.

I am still waiting on a response on where to purchase gym clothes, lol. I mean quality, not wash once and the elastic stretches out.
This week I will be having baked salmon and wholewheat couscous with cranberries and stir fried (in a teaspoon of olive oil) spinach, zucchini and mushrooms.
Recipe: Nut Crusted Tilapia
Tilapia, Pecans, Fresh Lime, Salsa (you choose flavour)
Finely chop one one cup pecans in a food processor or put in ziplock bag and crush with mallet. Season both sides of 4 tilapia filets (about 1 ½ pounds) with salt and black pepper.
Dip fish in wheat flour, shake off excess, dip in milk and coat thoroughly with nuts. Heat a thin layer of canola oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook fish until done, turning only once about five minutes in all. Stir in the juice of one lime with salsa and serve with fish.
