Chairman of the Eastern Caribbean Monetary Council, Chief Minister Victor Banks has rubbished reports that a new Eastern Caribbean Central Bank governor has been named.

It was announced earlier this month that three candidates, in order of preference have been shortlisted…

But Banks says it’s not true that Sir Dwight Venner’s successor has been chosen.

“That process will probably be completed in the first or second week in December. There has been a question on scheduling such a meeting where we can have an interview the candidates from the shortlist and we can proceed from there ..”

Reports were that St. Lucian dr. Jean Lyon has been elected as the new central bank governor.

He supposedly won the post over Dominican Dr. Valda Henry and Grenada’s Dr. Timothy Antoine who is a member of the ECCB board of Directors.

Banks is staying mum on the names of the three candidates.
