Antiguan gets World Bank attachment

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Deputy Financial Secretary Kevin Silston is one month into a two-year attachment at the World Bank in Washington, DC.

The announcement came yesterday during the Budget presentation.

Minister of Finance Harold Lovell as he thanked the team who worked to compile the 2011 statement noted the absence of Silston’s name with an explanation.

“We were given the opportunity, through rotation, to nominate someone to serve a two-year assignment at the World Bank. Mr Silston was nominated,” Lovell said.

Silston is the advisor to the Office of the Executive Director for Canada, Ireland and the Caribbean. His appointment began on November 1.

The announcement was met with applause from the parliamentarians and the gallery.
