The Ministry of Tourism has announced the winners of the local segment of the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) 2019 Children’s Essay Contest.

In the Junior Division, La’Rae Fredrick from the Antigua Wesleyan Junior Academy won 1st place, while in the Senior Division, Donato Weste of the Clare Hall Secondary School emerged the winner.

The national competition attracted entries from 11 schools across the island with students presenting essays on the topic: “Many cruise passengers use cruising as a way to sample different destinations. What impressions does my country leave on these passengers, and how does it or should it attract them back as stay-over guests?”

Both essays were sent to the FCCA headquarters in Florida to be judged in the regional segment of the competition.

The overall winners were Barbados in the junior division and St. Maarten in the senior division.

La’Rae Fredrick and Donato Weste will each receive US$200.00 from the FCCA.
