Poor working conditions triggered protest by staff at the Agricultural extension division who decided to walk off the job this morning.
Approximately half of the 30 employees were chanting outside their workplace, holding up placards outlining their complaints.
They allege that the city building in which they work is dilapidated and that there is a lack of furniture as well as broken furniture.
Workers say poor bathroom conditions and mould are also major problems they face. One worker says she developed a rash because of the mould.
OBSERVER media visited the scene and a stench was in fact permeating the building.
Workers say complaints have been sent to different officials but nothing has been done. The workers’ offices are in the PDO building opposite King George V grounds.
