ABAVA to host Under-20 regional tournament

The YMCA Volleyball Indoor facility in Antigua will come alive from August 21st-26th as the Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association (ABAVA) is set to host the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball (ECVA) Under-20 Women’s Volleyball tournament.

Six teams – including host country Antigua and Barbuda, Saba, Anguilla, Grenada, St. Lucia and Bermuda – will battle it out for the top honors.

Group A will see Bermuda, Anguilla and Grenada square off; while Antigua and Barbuda will face tough competition from Grenada and Saba in Group B.

A 12-member squad has been announced by the ABAVA to contest the tournament.

Renika Alfred, Harmony Barnes, Nia Benjamin, Nashea Browne, Harmony Edwards, Kacy George, Sherricia James, Jasania James, Jahlieshia Knowles, Nekayla Prevost, Kadijah Sampson and Alliyah Smith were selected.

Senior national male player Rixon Joseph is the head coach, while senior female national player Joelle Thomass is the Assistant Coach.

Games will run from 9am, 11am, 6pm, and 8pm.

Antigua and Barbuda’s first match will be against Grenada at 8pm on opening night.

Admission on Thursday and Friday is $5; Saturday and Sunday $10.
