Lion Hill FC leaped into the number two position in Zone A of the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association’s (ABFA) Second Division standings on Monday following a narrow 3-2 victory over English Harbour.

Playing away from home, Lion Hill benefitted from a double strike by Calroy Douglas who scored in minutes 32 and 74, while Renford Harris put the icing on the cake in the 78th minute.

English Harbour, former three-peat top-flight champions, had previously gone ahead via goals from Canya James and Kofie Adams in minutes 14 and 32, respectively.

Lion Hill moved to 35 points from 15 showings, just one adrift leaders Garden Stars on 36. Stars have played 14 times.

The loss against Lion Hill was English Harbour’s fourth in 15 showings as they remain on 31 points and fifth in the standings.

Also, on Monday, Bendals walked away with three points and three goals without having to break a sweat after Pares failed to field a squad for their scheduled contest at home. The results mean that Bendals move to 33 points and third in the standings after just 12 showings.

There was victory as well for Attacking Saints as they overcame Master Ballers 1-0 to move fourth in the standings with 32 points after 14 matches. The lone goal of the contest came from Devonte Geron in minute 31. Ballers are sixth with 26 points.

In what was the largest margin of victory on Monday, Freeman’s Village Scorpions hammered Glanvilles 6-1. Roy Gregory and Darius Hector equally shared in the spoils, as each scored three times to record hattricks.

Gregory netted in minutes 19, 46 and 65, while Hector shot home in minutes 21, 53 and 68 to see Scorpions to their sixth win in 15 matches and seventh in the standings with 20 points. Glanvilles are third from bottom with nine points.

In the other match contested Monday, Urlings defeated Mahico Stars 2-1.
