Revellers mas' troupe

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Thousands of young revellers paraded their costumes through the streets of St John’s on Sunday during the LIME Junior Carnival parade.

Backed up by sound systems, the troupes featured several aspects of life in Antigua & Barbuda through their costume presentations.

Two of the costumes paid tribute to calypso icons. One recognised the 50th anniversary celebrations of King Short Shirt and the other was a tribute to the late Arrow.

In excess of 30 separate segments were part of yesterday’s parade, to include primary school and private mas’ troupes.

Bands made their way along the Carnival route and into the Antigua Recreation Grounds, now dubbed Carnival City, where judging for the various competitions took place.

The Junior Calypso Monarch competition followed.
