Wind gauge dilemma sickening

I have been following the ongoing saga of the seemingly imaginative wind gauge that is being blamed for qualifying times posted by our athletes here in Antigua not being accepted by the IAAF, and quite frankly it is a sickening one.

How, in this day and age, can a National Athletic Association operate without such an important piece of equipment? This certainly baffles me.

In addition to this, wasn’t the Athletic Association aware that this piece of equipment was needed in order to have the young athletes’ times accepted by the world body?

Someone obviously fell down on the job and needs to be fired because, once again, it is the youth who will suffer while those in authority move on with their lives as if this grave injustice was never committed against the youth of this country.

Someone once said there is a conspiracy against the youth of this country and it is certainly proving to be true.

How do we explain to these young athletes, should they not make it at the CAC games that we as big, knowing, adults have failed them and have robbed them of an opportunity to display their talent to the world?

I think an investigation is needed into this saga in order to determine what went wrong and who should be blame because if this is allowed to go unpunished then I can guarantee that it will happen again and again and again and again.

The sports system on a whole is in shambles, that much is evident.

Time to wake up and smell the coffee … sorry … the Gatorade.
