Tonight’s session of Thank Guinness it’s Friday (TGIF) will be a salute to peace, unity and the resolve of the country’s communities.
That’s coming from the sales and marketing management team of Island B-Hive, which hosts the weekly event.
In a release yesterday, the establishment asked that patrons wear white tonight to symbolise their support for a non-violent and crime-free society.
The message comes days after the fatal shooting of mother of five who worked in close proximity to the Heritage Quay Complex, where Island B-Hive is located.
“On behalf of everyone at our organisation, especially management and staff at B-Hive, who are members of the Heritage Quay Tenants Association, we extend heart-felt sympathy to the family of Susan Powell,” Neil Cochrane, marketing manager for Island B-Hive, said in the statement.
“We also empathise with the management and staff of the company where she worked.”
He said the B-Hive would be seeking permission from the family of the deceased to establish a donation box at the restaurant so that members of the public who would like to donate to the family can so do.
He urged residents as well to keep in mind that law and order, like tourism, is everyone’s business and that it is in their best interest to assist the police.
Cochrane added, “Our natural tendencies in times like these, in addition to outrage, is to curb our lifestyles. We turn in earlier and we add what we believe are extra layers of security, and while precaution is necessary, we run the risk of becoming imprisoned, and the criminal agenda wins. We have to find ways to take back our lives.”
TGIF begins from 6 pm this evening.
