Sherwin ‘Baah Bastini’ Carty, right, and Joseph ‘Jubah’ James

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Police have issued an all-points bulletin for Sherwin “Baah Bastini” Carty and Joseph “Jubah” James in connection with last Thursday’s kidnapping in Ottos.

The duo is reportedly involved in and has knowledge of the August 18 incident in which Hezekiah Parker and Kareem Gardiner have already been charged and are on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison.

Carty, whose last known addresses are Hodges Bay and Newgate Street, and James of Villa Area are reportedly armed and dangerous.

According to police descriptions, 37-year-old Carty, a Guyanese national, is five feet, seven inches tall and weighs approximately 195 pounds. James, Antiguan by birth, is in his 20s and said to be five feet, eight inches tall and is slimly built.

Lawmen are cautioning that the men, if sighted, should not be approached.  Instead, the Criminal Investigations Department (462-3913/4), Police Intelligence Unit (720-6085), Crime Stoppers (800-TIPS (8447) or the nearest police station should be contacted.

“There is no need to play hero … if there is anyone out there who may know where these men are you are asked to please contact the police. It is very vital that they are brought in as soon as possible,” a police source said.

According to the victim of the kidnapping, he was held up at gunpoint in Ottos, tied up and forced into a vehicle. He managed to escape in the Barnes Hill/Cedar Grove area and notified police.

Parker and Gardiner were jointly charged with conspiracy to commit murder, kidnapping, and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. Last Monday they were remanded to prison after they appeared in St John’s Magistrates’ Court.

In addition, Juliet Lambert was charged with making a false statement to the investigating officer about the kidnapping, and Jenica Reynolds was charged with perverting the course of justice. Each was each granted bail, and will be tried separately from Parker and Gardiner.

The trials for the four already apprehended are set for November 7.
