St. John’s Antigua- The bust of late Prime Minister VC Bird is to be made into more of a tourist attraction and be used to help tell the nation’s history to visitors.

A fence was recently erected around the monument to the “father of the nation” to lessen its attractiveness to vagrants and loiterers.

And Carolyn Thomas-Parker, communications & marketing manager at St John’s Development Corporation, SJDC, says the barrier was the first part of a much grander plan.

Included in the upgrade will be visitors’ seating and replacement of damaged trees.

Parker also adds that the area will be properly monitored to ensure that people do not dispose of garbage or disrespect the memorial site.
