St. John’s Antigua- The eight-team playoffs of the Antigua & Barbuda Football Association’s (ABFA) Under-17 Boys Development League have been decided.
This year’s Boys Under-17 league featured a total of 21 teams, which were divided into two zones for a series of round-robin preliminary matches.
Advancing to the playoffs are the top four sides in each group at the end of the preliminaries.
The Zone One qualifiers are group winners Villa, runners-up Future Kings, third place finishers Swetes and West Ham who finished fourth.
Advancing from Zone Two are group winners Parham, second place finishers Hoppers, Ottos Rangers who came third and SAP who secured fourth place.
Villa won group one with a perfect 27 points by virtue of winning all nine preliminary matches in the 10-team group.
Future Kings attained 24 points, winning eight and losing only one of their preliminary matches.
Swetes snatched third place ahead of West Ham by virtue of a superior goal difference after both sides ended the preliminaries with 18 points each.
Parham took top honours in Zone Two by recording 24 points from eight wins and two losses in their 10 preliminary matches.
Hoppers snatched second place ahead of Ottos Rangers by virtue of a better goal difference after both sides ended their quota of preliminary matches on 21 points each.
Sap also grabbed the last qualifying spot in the group on goal difference over neighbours and arch-rivals Empire after the two Gray’s Green sides finished the preliminaries with identical 18 points from their 10 matches.
The playoffs will commence today (Saturday) at Dredge Bay and all eight teams will be in action.
Westham will face Hoppers at 10 am, Future Kings will meet Ottos Rangers at 11:20 am, Parham will take on Swetes at 12:45 pm and Villa will clash with Sap at 2 pm.
