ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a traffic accident on the Golden Grove main road, in the vicinity of the Golden Grove Sport Complex, that left three people seeking medical treatment at Mount St John’s Medical Center.

The incident, which took place around 5:30 pm Saturday, involved a white Honda Accord A35584, driven by 35-year-old Anthony Davis of Bolans, and a blue Toyota Tercel car A768, owned and driven by Craig Parker of Golden Grove.

According to police reports, allegations are that the Honda driver was travelling south at a rapid speed when he attempted to overtake the driver of the other car, travelling in the same direction and about to make a right turn.

“As a result he collided into the right front portion of that motor car, which caused him to lose control and collided into a culvert on the western side of the road,” a STRATCOM statement read.

“The vehicle then skidded onto the eastern side of the road and came into contact with a number of people sitting under a shed.”

It added that Dale Edwards, 43, Elaine Christopher, 58, and her teenage daughter, Kevena Christopher, all of Golden Grove, were rushed to hospital by EMS having sustained various injuries.

Doctors reported that conditions of the injured parties are stable.

“A third vehicle, a dark green Nissan Sunny A11729, owned by Catherine Roberts of Golden Grove, was also damaged after motor car A35584 collided into it while it was parked on the eastern side of the road,” police said.
