St. John’s Antigua- Pigotts Bullets Football Club will be hosting its fifth annual Seven-a-side Football Tournament starting on the weekend of May 11 with a Soccerama.
The event, which has total prize monies of $4,500, will be held at Pigotts Ground and is open to both male and female teams. The duration of the matches will be 30 minutes – 15 minutes per half.
There will be a maximum of 12 persons per team at $20 per person, and registration can be done with any member of the club, or call: 725-8189, 764-1522, 764-7648 or 726-7508.
According to the rules of the tournament, five players must play the entire game, while seven players must be on the field at a time. There will be no pass back to the goalkeeper and no offside rule.
A total of three cards will be used. If a green card is shown to any player, that player must leave the field for two minutes. A yellow card issued to any player is good for five minutes, while a red card signifies that player will get an automatic one-match ban.
The matches will be played from Fridays to Sundays starting at 6 pm nightly, and will run up to May 27.
The field will be a reduced in size and tackles in the games are strictly prohibited.
Select Seven are the defending male champions. There was no female division last year.
Proceeds from this event will go towards the club’s development. There will be lots to eat and drink.
