ST JOHN’S, Antigua – When Tian Winter took to the Carnival City stage on Saturday evening, he literally took the stage – securing both the groovy and jumpy crowns at this year’s Party Monarch competition.

Dominating the stage and the crowd, Winter, who already secured his title as “King of the Stage” for his prowess during pre-competition fetes, has now unequivocally reinforced the title of “King” by sweeping the competition – seizing the groovy throne from Claudette “CP” Peters and the jumpy title from Hard Knaxx.

In an interview with OBSERVER Media just after his win, the now three-time monarch was ecstatic and deservedly a little cocky – firing back at his “naysayers” with no words, but a hearty drawn-out laugh.

However, the artiste was serious when it came to his team, saying they were instrumental in his success – and to his fans.

“To everyone who supports Tian Winter, thank you so, so much for sticking through the thick and the thin. I appreciate it and this is for you,” he said.

Tian added,  “It’s a great feeling, the hard work really paid off.”

The mood was electric in Carnival City with the grounds filled to capacity, as the 10 soca warriors stormed the stage, primed to do battle.

However, just like in the proverbial coliseum battles of old, there could only be one winner and Tian Winter was that victor.

With this win, the artiste said that he would be going to Trinidad to try out for the preliminaries for the International Soca Competition.
