Three primary schools in Mini Tennis programme

St. John’s Antigua- Larry Michael, the driving force behind the Schools Mini Tennis Programme specifically within the primary schools, has expressed appreciation to Cool & Smooth which has come forward to sponsor the programme this year.

Michael also expressed thanks to both the electronic and print media for their coverage over the years and asked of them to continue to do so in the interest of the youth who wanted to see and hear their names announced on the radio and television, and in the newspapers.

The competition got under way last Wednesday with Golden Grove defeating Mary Pigott, six matches to two.

On Thursday in the mixed doubles matches, Golden Grove vanquished St Andrews, 5-3.

Jahroy King and Daniel Benjamin of Golden Grove beat Trevor Baltimore and Jenique Williams of St Andrews in the 10 and Under Category, 7-6, 7-4.

In the second match, St Andrews’ Saddig Austin and Selene Kentish hammered Golden Grove’s Felis Santana and Shanice Richards, 7-3, 7-2.

In match three, St Andrews’ Trent Baltimore and Rexanna Ramsey edged Golden Grove’s Anisio Bellot and Sharissa Hodge, 7-6, 7-6.

In the final 10 and Under match, St Andrews D’Aundre Morris and Hayley Nathaniel got the better of Golden Grove’s Nicholas Richardson and Tamia Bingham, 7-5, 7-6.

In the 12 and Under Category, Golden Grove’s Coby Tittle and I Love Lee spanked St Andrews’ Essan Warner and Kamea Bryan, 7-5, 7-0.

In the next match, Jeleni Boston and Jenique Whyte of Golden Grove beat Aaron Abbott and Fleur Weeks of St Andrews, 7-4, 7-2.

In the third match, Golden Grove’s Jermaine Severino and Erolla McDonald defeated St Andrews’ Courtney Whyte and Shalissa Josiah, 7-4, 7-1.

In the final match, Golden Grove’s Nadeke Martin and Olicia Phillip overcame St Andrews’ Hyndi Ryan and Elyssa Ryan, 3-7, 7-5, 7-4.
