The largest telecommunications, science and technology event in the Eastern Caribbean, Antigua & Barbuda’s ICTFEST was officially launched on Thursday, August 19 by the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting, Telecommunications, Science and Technology.
Highlights of the fest will include interactive exhibitions, interactive seminars, competitions, and the cyber café. ICTFEST 2010 committee member, Asha Christian, said, ”In addition to the traditional, but ever popular Computer Assembly Race, we will be bringing back the DMS Speed Typing Competition and introducing a Graphic Design competition and an Amateur Photography competition, a press release stated.
“The Graphic Design and Amateur Photography competitions bring something new to the table this year. They bring to the fore the fusion between Information Technology, imagination, innovation and the visual arts. The ministry is committed to empowering members of the general public through IT, and these competitions allow them to showcase their talents through IT.”
The communiqué further noted that businesses that utilise ICTs are encouraged to exhibit during the fest as many have reported receiving important and valuable feedback from visitors as well as necessary exposure.
Registration is open and potential exhibitors and sponsors are asked to contact any member of the ICTFEST organising committee at (268) 468-4610 or ictfest@antigua.gov.ag to discuss how they can become involved in ICTFEST 2010.
Registration forms for the competitions, exhibitors and sponsors will be made available on the government’s website, www.antigua.gov.ag, and all are encouraged to participate and show support for ICTFEST 2010 – ICT Solutions for Antigua & Barbuda’s Development.
The 6th annual fest, dubbed ICTFEST Reloaded, will be held on Wednesday, September 15, from 9 am to 9 pm at Multipurpose Cultural & Exhibition Centre, Perry Bay.
