Three-time convicted murderer Kaniel Martin is in trouble with the law after he allegedly stabbed fellow inmate Rashawn Shabbaz in the early hours of Friday morning.

High Court officials and the police will investigate allegations that relatives of one of the two men convicted of the murders of a honeymooning couple and a shopkeeper made threats after the guilty verdict, well-placed sources said.

Dr Christopher Moyneham, the UK expert in recovering gunshot residue (GSR), yesterday said the residue found on clothing belonging to murder accused Avie Howell and Kaniel Martin’s clothing ranged from low to moderate on different garments and in some instances could have been inadvertently picked up.

Forensic testing on the blue and white bandana recovered from the scene where shopkeeper Woneta Anderson was murdered has shown the presence of DNA belonging to accused Avie Howell, who is on joint trial with Kaniel Martin for the August 2008 killing and the July 2008 murder of British couple Benjamin and Dr Catherine Mullany.

The lead forensic scientist at the Metropolitan Police Services (MPS) New Scotland Yard yesterday testified that a bloodstained shoe print found on the scene where shopkeeper Woneta Anderson was killed was “probably” made by shoes taken from murder accused Avie Howell.
