Antiguans and Barbudans wishing to support the country’s Benna Boys from the stands during the upcoming semi-final round of the FIFA 2012 World Cup Qualifiers will have to dig deep in their pockets.

Antigua & Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) is currently seeking volunteers in a number of areas as they look to jumpstart preparations for the country’s participation in the semi-final round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Minister of State within the Ministry of Sports, Senator Winston Williams, during a sitting of the Senate yesterday revealed that his ministry intends to sit with the Ministry of Finance in an effort to decide what degree of funding, if any, would be available to Antigua & Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) during their 2014 World Cup semi-finals round which is slated to begin on June 8, 2012.

Manager of the Antigua & Barbuda senior football team, Fernando “Nando” Abraham, has officially thanked the public for their support against Haiti at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds last Friday.

The date November 11, 2011 will be recorded permanently in the history books of Antigua & Barbuda as the day the tiny twin-island state, for the first time, qualified for the semi-finals round of a FIFA World Cup.
