Business operators in the Heritage Quay area are calling for increased security in the area on the heels of a murder in one of the shops there, yesterday.

A gunman who apparently fired at police during a two-hour stand-off at a secluded beach spot yesterday – in front of two terrified families – was finally cornered and captured.

Heritage Quay, which originally opened in 1988, is undergoing some significant changes and more will be coming according to Sylvester Browne, the new chairman of St John’s Development Corporation.

The return of cruise ships to the sister isle is under consideration for the upcoming tourist season in 2012.
