Elmeade Jarvis, one of the three people found guilty in April for defrauding the Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) during his tenure as accountant, has been granted bail pending his appeal against his conviction and two-year prison sentence.

The teenaged boy accused of murdering his cousin Stacy Ramirez was granted $25,000 bail with the requisite $5,000 bond after spending one week on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison.

“Let him explore how he’d get it,” was the advice Magistrate Keith Thom gave to attorney John Fuller yesterday when the lawyer questioned how his client Andy Daniel would come up with the $15,000 cash requisite he had to pay as part of his $30,000 bail for causing the death of Glenford Martin by dangerous driving.

A businessman accused of embezzlement was granted $600,000 bail when he appeared in St John’s Magistrates Court yesterday.
