Cabinet has decided to accord former member of parliament and attorney Vere Bird Jr an official funeral.

Crowds are expected to turn out today for the thanksgiving service for the man who dared to, and eventually broke, the chains of suppression on broadcast media in Antigua & Barbuda 12 years ago.

Antigua & Barbuda’s super centenarian, 110 year-old Irene Carlos, will be given an official funeral on September 27.

The remains of former labour commissioner, businessman and philanthropist Calvin Antonio Rogers, OM, who passed away last week after a short period of illness, will be laid to rest tomorrow at the St George’s Anglican Church burial grounds.
