Guyana’s presidential hopeful, Cheddi “Joey” Jagan has joined the ranks of many who have criticised the action of convicted thief Rosaline Conway who last November received a pardon from Governor General Dame Louise Lake-Tack to mark the country’s 29th anniversary of Independence.

President of Antigua & Barbuda Media Congress (ABMC) Colin James isn’t ready to cry foul just yet, but he’s admitted that he’s keenly interested in what Commissioner of Police Vere Browne will say to media owners and managers and talk show hosts in a meeting that is still in the planning stages.

Police investigations into the early December 2010 breach at Government House, during which time $10,000 was stolen from the safe, have pointed to one of their own, reliable sources have told The Daily OBSERVER.

One good turn deserves a next, and if not reciprocity then gratitude, right? Neither is the case for released convict Rosaline Conway, who following her Independence pardon has sued the government.

For those who were unaware, President of the Senate Hazlyn Francis yesterday unmasked the senator who has come under fire for comments about the governor general deemed serious enough to cause the commissioner of police to intervene and for the head of state’s security detail to be ramped up.

A spate of “vile attacks” and open disrespect directed at the country’s head of state, Governor General Dame Louise Lake-Tack, “from persons who ought to know better,” coupled with two security breaches of her official residence has caused security forces to put tighter measures in place to ensure her safety and well-being.
