Sports Minister seeks WICB’s ‘intervention’


Minister of State with responsibility for Sports Senator Winston Williams has written to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Dr Ernest Hilaire seeking his intervention “in the impasse between the Antigua & Barbuda Cricket Association and the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.”

US Congress takes aim at Antigua & Barbuda


Following on a US Senate Resolution against Antigua & Barbuda introduced on December 8, 10 United States congressmen introduced a Congressional Resolution on December 23 expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the “Government of Antigua and Barbuda has committed numerous acts against the interests of United States citizens and operated the financial sector and judicial system of Antigua and Barbuda in a manner that is manifestly contrary to the public policy of the United States.”

AUA sues nursing licensing body


The American University of Antigua, AUA, has challenged the constitutionality of a US agency’s rejection of the qualifications of the School of Nursing here, which led to similar action by the state of New York.

ECCB takeover of Antiguan bank necessary for regional stability


Chairman of the Ministerial Subcommittee of the Eastern Caribbean Monetary Council Dr Denzil Douglas said on Saturday that the problems facing the Antigua-Barbuda Investment Bank (ABIB) could have resulted in danger to the banking system in the entire sub-region.
