LIAT on Monday announced it had been forced to suspend flights to St Lucia where public servants have taken industrial action to force the government to increase their salaries and wages.

Regional carrier Liat has been raked over the coals for cutting flights to Grenada without even giving the authorities there the heads up.

As the entire region waits to hear when REDjet airline will get off the ground with its promised US $9.99 fares, Antigua-based LIAT seems not to be expecting it to stay very long in the air when it eventually takes off.

LIAT’s management may soon have to hold talks with its shareholders in an effort to resolve outstanding financial challenges.
