Plagued by controversy for its lyrical content, multi-title Road March winners Burning Flames copped top honours last night as the Carnival curtains came down with their “Kick Een She Back Doh” song.

A sudden fire that gutted one vehicle and severely damaged another on High Street forced Carnival’s vibrant opening parade to be diverted to ensure revellers’ safety.

Antigua’s Carnival came to a belated close on Saturday night with Road March champion and Jumpy Soca Monarch Joel “Hard Knaxs” Lewis emerging among the biggest winners from the extended festival.
