ST JOHN’S, Antigua – After two days of intensive discussions between Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) Vice President, Dale Neuburger, and local stakeholders, the sport of swimming is set for new, fresh and exciting beginnings after an agreement was arrived at during the final meeting at City View Hotel on November 30, 2011.

Antigua & Barbuda Olympic Association (ABOA) and Antigua & Barbuda Amateur Swimming Association (ABASA) have agreed that a new constitution, approved by FINA, will be proposed for ratification at the ABASA Annual General Meeting (AGM) in late January.

Additionally, during the AGM, an election of ABASA officers will take place, and membership will include additional club programmes which commit to abide by ABASA and FINA rules.

ABASA and ABOA place on record their profound appreciation to FINA for the effort and dedication provided in arriving at a solution which will positively impact the development and growth of swimming, which is the fastest growing sport on the island.

They further confirm their shared commitment for the advancement of the sport of swimming and to the preparation and exposure of our young athletes who continue to demonstrate capacity, interest, and passion for this sport.
