After running unchecked at radio and in the dancehalls with a truckload of hits and scoring multiple hits on major music charts in Jamaica, the Caribbean and internationally throughout 2012, Subkonshus recording artistes Konshens and Darrio have nabbed multiple awards and nominations from some of Jamaica’s leading entities.
Both artistes have justified their success over the past year by earning multiple nods in the recently held Star Awards. Darrio was nominated in the Breakthrough Artiste of the Year category, while Konshens triumphed in the Best Dressed Male and Dash out Song of the Year (Gal a Bubble single) categories.
For the upcoming Youth View Awards, Konshens leads the pack with nine nominations, while Darrio picked up a single nomination for his collaborative effort Siddung which also features Konshens.
With the awards season just getting off to a start, fans from the talented artistes can expect more nominations to be announced in the coming weeks.
Coming off a successful year, both Konshens and Darrio are ready to unleash a new catalogue of hits throughout 2013.
Konshens already has a number of new releases that have swarmed the airwaves including Jiggle Jiggle (produced by Dre Day); From Yuh Si Mi (produced by Chimney Records); and Drink and Rave (produced by Razz and Biggy).
Darrio fresh from his recent tour of France and Europe, has already dropped a handful of new singles including Hurry Up (Subkonshus Music); Wine and Galivant (produced by Techniques); Work featuring Delus (Hitmaker Music); and Go Fi Di Suppen (produced by Black Sheep).
Commenting on the nominations that he has so far received for his work, Darrio said ‘It’s a great feeling to know that the fans and the industry recognise the work that I have been putting in over the past year’.
Konshens was just as ecstatic about the nominations and awards that he has received to date. He said in a release to the media, “I am proud to be nominated and happy for the fact that these organisations have considered me. This goes to show that people recognise the work that I have been doing,” he said.
The Subkonshus team promises to continue delivering the hits and workman like performances throughout 2013.
