ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The annual Staycations Expo will be taking place on May 19 and 20, and already most of the booth space for exhibitors has been taken up.

Some 30 exhibitors have registered thus far for the 2012 event to be held in the parking lot of the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground from 2 to 7 pm daily.

According to a release from the Ministry of Tourism, the fourth installation of the Staycations Expo promises to be bigger and better than before with more exhibition space, an outdoor aesthetic and an entertainment line-up that will highlight the best of Antiguan musical talent.

This line-up will feature among other artists former Soca Monarch King Tian Winter alongside Tizzy and the El-A-Kru band.

The entire family will be accommodated this time around as a children’s attraction area will form part of the exhibition and this area will feature rides, bounce castles, and face painting.

Patrons to the expo will have an opportunity to grab special offers and win prizes and packages from the exhibitors who are hoping to boost business during the off-season summer months by catering to the local market.

This year iMobile, the nations’ lone indigenous cell phone company, has come forward as a platinum sponsor, injecting an approximate $10,000 into the event.

“It is indeed a pleasure to have iMobile on board this year and we hope that this is the beginning of a lasting partnership … 2012 will be an event with a difference and we invite everyone to come up to the stadium to experience what Antigua & Barbuda has to offer in all areas – entertainment, accommodations, services etc.

The Ministry is excited about this year with a new venue and a number of new PR initiatives around the programme,” stated Vashti Ramsey Staycations’ Committee Chairperson.
