ST JOHN’S, Antigua – State Insurance Corporation (SIC), today, is staging its inaugural Educational Fair with Flair.
Organisers said the initiative is so dubbed since what started out as a venture to promote higher learning in life insurance, particularly with the international body Life Office Management Association (LOMA), has blossomed to incorporate other disciplines of learning.
At today’s fair, employees have an opportunity to browse through catalogues from diverse educational institutions.
“With the immense value placed on education, the corporation seeks to provide every avenue to expose its staff to the opportunities available,” an SIC release noted.
“Indeed, workers are encouraged to expand their horizons, and seek challenges that will allow them to take charge of their professional and personal development within the sphere of their current job placement and beyond.”
In addition to the promotional materials, tokens and surprises are also in store for visitors to the booth.
Participating institutions include University of the West Indies (Open Campus); ABIIT; KAW Management; Linkels & Norton; along with Antigua & Barbuda Employers Federation. Organisations such as St John Ambulance Association and the National Office of Disaster Services will also be providing brochures and valuable information.
“As is evident, the corporation, being Antigua & Barbuda’s premier indigenous insurance provider, is partnering with local organisations to promote what is home-grown,” the communiqué read.
“This collaboration is an avenue for complementing international expertise.
“State Insurance is pleased to inform that it has benefited and grown from training courses with LOMA along with all the local bodies mentioned.”
Albeit an in-house project, the fair is open to clients visiting the corporation.
“Individuals can, perchance, see an opportunity from a different angle and may be spurred into action by what will be presented at the exhibition which runs from 10 am to 12 noon,” the release said.
