CASTRIES, St Lucia, Sept.13, CMC – One of two St. Lucian nationals arrested for drug possession while on board a yacht in the waters off St.Kitts Nevis has been sentenced to two years hard labour after pleading guilty for importing cocaine into the Federation.
The vessel’s captain Vincent Clerice,56, was also fined EC$1 million to be paid in nine months, failing which he will spend four years in prison on completion of his two year sentence.
Clerice was arrested along with Nixon Alexander, 42 , for being in possession of 120 kilograms of cocaine valued at close to EC$12 million.
However the charges against Alexander were dropped and he will be deported to St.Lucia.
The court forfeited the yacht called the “Sinestra Prove” to the crown, and ordered it be advertised and sold at a public auction.
