St John’s Lutheran Math Quiz champs

St. John’s Antigua- St John’s Lutheran Primary emerged winner of the Zone III Grade III Math Quiz.

Placing second was Liberta School, while Freemans Ville school placed third.

The quiz is designed to boost students’ confidence and skills in Math and provide further support for teachers as they note strengths and weaknesses as well as receive ideas on how to present math topics and questions in more meaningful and interesting ways.

Other participating school included Cobbs Cross, CT Samuel, Buckleys, Bendals, JT Ambrose and Sea View Farm.

The quiz was keenly contested as participants answered questions on topics such as number theory, operations, fractions, time, money and measurements.

Marquita Andrew, representative of Pearson’s publishing (part sponsors) of the quiz was on hand to present awards and prizes to the students.

The Grade IV quiz, the last of four grade level math quizzes held annually, is scheduled for Friday this week.
