St. John’s Antigua- Girl Power, “something for the ladies” is the name of the first fete from the Soca Therapy line-up of events for summer, held by The Marketing Machine and The Source. The event is scheduled for June 2 at Millers by the Sea.

The two entities that are responsible for the Lots of Liquor (LOL) Fete, Red Eye Fete, Naughty or Nice and The Source Blue Devils has decided to add a fete with a difference, one that the ladies will enjoy.

At the media launch held earlier this week, the list of artistes for Girl Power were released by The Marketing Machine Managing Director Chalita Rose. “We have put together entertainment all females will enjoy, this includes our three best female soca artistes — the young and upcoming Jashan Hughes, known for her 2011 carnival hit Mama No, Soca Animal Tizzy with her El a Kru Band, and of course Soca Diva Claudette CP Peters with her Taxic Band.

“From Trinidad we have the beautiful and talented Patrice Roberts from HD Band, and one of the hottest artistes to blaze Trinidad’s carnival this year, Kerwin Dubois, with his hit song Bacchanal on the Antilles Riddim. Also a part of the hot line up will be the sweet groovy voice of Edwin Yearwood, known for his hits with Krosfyah,” Rose said.

On hand to give endorsement to Girl Power were Claudette, Tizzy and Jahsan Hughes.

Soca Therapy, as dubbed by the organizers, will also feature four other fetes: LOL cooler fete on June 30; Red Eye on July 21; Insane Cooler Experience (ICE), slated for August 2; and SKIN, a beach rave on August 12.

“All our events will create a party atmosphere that patrons will enjoy and be able to see the best in soca music from around the Caribbean and Antigua. In weeks to come we will release the star-studded line ups for our Soca Therapy events,” Rose explained.

Girl Power is sponsored by Digicel, Carib Beer, Cavalier Rum, Oasis Water, Chivas, Axe and The Source. Tickets can be purchased at The Source Clothing Store for $40.
