Shattaz United win third annual beach soccer tournament

St. John’s Antigua- Shattaz United are the new champions of the third Annual Beach Soccer Tournament organised by Swalings International.

The tournament was held at Millers by the Sea at Fort James last Sunday.

Ten teams took part in the event: Shattaz United, Karib Cable, AS Bryden, Sugar Club, Tootsie Roll, Potters Tigers, Creole Cruises, AS Bryden Green Acres, The Under Dog and Weekend Runners.

Shattaz United, Potters Tigers, AS Bryden and AS Bryden Green Acres made it to the semi-finals, while Shattaz United and AS Bryden contested the finals.

Last year’s winners were Potters United and Anchester were the runners-up.

The chief organiser of the event, Duncan Swatton, told OBSERVER Sports that the event was a success. He thanked the teams for their participation and also the referees’ association for providing officiators.

Shattaz United walked away with a winner-takes-all cash prize of $2,000 along with medals.

Swatton also expressed gratitude to the many sponsors who contributed to the event’s success including Sugar Ridge Club Hotel, Subway Restaurant, TCM, Heineken Beer, Fruta, Gatorade, Gunthropes Spring Water, Little Canton, Metopolis Music, Bee-a-Hug, BJC Car sales, Highland Fling and Chickpea Inc.
