Stingray City/Nature Tours Seatons are the new champions of the Antigua Commercial Bank (ACB) Parish League Richie Richardson Limited Overs cricket competition when they clashed in a “grudge match” at Police Recreation Grounds (PRG) on Saturday.

Both teams had qualified for the finals last year with St Paul’s emerging as victors.

The tables changed this time around with Seatons recording a seven-wicket victory over the “seasoned” St Paul’s team.

Batting first, St Paul’s posted a total of 151 for nine with credible efforts coming from former national players, Shawn Bailey and Audwin “Jarma” Walsh, who made 47 and 45 runs, respectively.

Selwyn Hobson bagged three wickets for 19 runs, while Kareem Price had two for 31.

Seatons, when their turn at the crease arrived, reached 152 for three with Hobson dominating the batting with a knock of 80, while Trevor Earskine added 39.

Vaughn Walsh was the only bowler of note for St Paul’s, snatching two wickets for 23 runs.

The encounter brought the first ACB Parish League competition for 2011 to an end.

A second contest, the Dave Joseph Limited Overs, is currently underway and will be followed by the Sir Vivian Richards American Airlines Thursday League, before the Curtly Ambrose Two Day competition.

There is still uncertainty surrounding the Cecil Charles Hilary Amis Cornelius 15 Overs-a-side and the proposed Ridley Jacobs Twenty20.

The Antigua Commercial Bank has been working hand-in-hand with Parish League Cricket for more than 30 years.
