St. John’s Antigua- New Thriving Roots and Newfield Tapers recorded wins in the Antigua & Barbuda Basketball Association’s (ABBA) Cool & Smooth, Stag, Inet First Division League at the JSC Sports Complex last night (Thursday).
Roots snatched a narrow 64-62 victory over JSC Outlaws. Noel Ryan scored 21 points and grabbed eight boards while Terry Roberts produced 19 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and four steals for the victors.
Russell Daley had 17 points, Shamarie Southwell sank 14 points and Michael Xavier converted 14 points and snatched eight boards for Outlaws.
Jules Williams shot a game-high 20 points and Marlon Browne converted 11 points to lead Tapers to their 75-66 victory over Inet Ottos.
Sheldon Abrams produced18 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and three blocks; Ade Jarvis had 15 points, 11 rebounds and five steals; and Warren Boggle chipped in with 10 points, five boards and three steals for Ottos.
The first division will continue at JSC today when Coast Outlaws take on Ottos at 8:15 pm.
In tomorrow’s double-header at the same venue, Akhimo will face Big Banana Express at 6:45 pm and Braves will clash with Baba’s Trucking Hawks at 8:15 pm.
