St. John’s Antigua- Roman Hill recorded a 17-point victory over Defante in the Cool & Smooth National Netball Championships at YMCA on Wednesday.
Led by goal shoot Jamila Frit, who sank 11 of her 18 attempts and goal attack Kizzy Thomas, who hit 11 of her 15 attempts, Roman Hill inflicted a 22-5 trouncing on the young Defante squad in the A Division contest, which was the second match of a triple-header.
Goal shoot Erburdine Parker converted only one of her six attempts while goal attack Kristel King, who is also a member of the national Under-23 squad, scored four of her nine attempts.
King, who is known for her ability in centre court, exhibited good shooting skills after she was called upon to play the role.
In the B Division, Nature Isles had the better of Eagles 11-9. For the victors, Yolanda Whaul converted four of her 10 attempts in the goal shoot position, while goal attack Ivorie Charles scored seven of her 14 attempts.
For Eagles, goal shoot Shanna Hazelwood converted only two of her eight attempts while goal attack Tanzania Francis sank seven of her 14 shots.
In the feature contest, a Mixed Division match-up, Police and Eagles played to a 12-12 tie.
Goal shoot Kareem Edwards scored eight of his 12 attempts while goal attack Lisa Marcellin converted four of her seven attempts for Police.
Goal shoot Eric Francis scored nine of his 25 shots while goal attack Christine Roberts sank three of her seven attempts for Eagles.
The competition continues nightly at the YMCA Sports Complex.
