Antiguans & Barbudans will soon hear the details of illegal activities at the Immigration Department surrounding the granting of temporary residence status to non-nationals. Among them, National Security Minister Dr Errol Cort has revealed, was the practice of giving that status to foreigners mere months after they arrived in the country.

Dr Errol Cort said a three-member committee set up last year to investigate the matter had assured him that a report on the issue would be released very shortly..

?Once we are in receipt of the report from this committee we will be in a better position to further discuss the issue of temporary residence and to share the findings of that committee with the members of the public, in an effort to inform policy making going forward in respect of this particular matter,? he said at the first public consultation on immigration and related matters on Wednesday night.
