St. John’s Antigua- The 12th annual all-female Gillian Brazier Basketball Shoot-out Tournament organised by Concerned Parents/Teachers Sports Association (CPTSA) is set for March 11 to 18.
Teams must have at least eight properly attired players and uniforms must bear numbers.
Gillian Brazier is wheelchair-bound due to multiple sclerosis. She resides in Ovals and still shows her enthusiasm and love for the sport.
During the 1980’s, Brazier played many times as a point guard for the Antigua & Barbuda national team.
In 1986, she represented the country at the Caricom Basketball Championship in Trinidad and Tobago.
A year later, she obtained a scholarship to Florida A&M University where she graduated with a BA degree in accounting.
A registration fee of US $150 per team is to be paid before February 15. There will be a late registration fee of US $25.
There will be prizes for most valuable player, most outstanding rookie, most points, most assists, most steals, most offensive and most defensive rebounds, most block shots, and three-pointers.
There will be also awards for the most disciplined team. An all-tournament team will also be selected. The top three teams will receive trophies and medals.
Registration forms should be completed and return to the CPTSA before February 29.
