For the first time in years police have arrested and charged someone for attempting to possess cannabis.

Radio personality Colin O’neil Browne was taken before Magistrate Keith Thom in St John’s Magistrates’ Court on Friday but the charge for attempting to possess 2.2 grammes of cannabis was not read to him since the alleged offence was committed in District B.

He will reappear in court on May 24, this time before All Saints Magistrate Asquith Riviere.

Browne, 50, of Potters, is also set to answer to a charge of possession of the said quantity of drugs which he and Genel Pryce are jointly accused of.

A police press statement indicate that Pryce, 23, of Pigotts and Browne were caught on Friday, March 4, at Pigotts Village. They were detained for questioning, released and rearrested.

Pryce was first to be charged since early last week, while Browne was charged Thursday evening. Station bail was granted to Browne whose lawyer was Sherfield Bowen. It is not clear when Pryce was bailed.
